He teaches political theory at Princeton University.  He is currently a fellow at both the Institute of Advanced Study in Berlin and at the research cluster “Contestations of the Liberal Script” in Berlin.  His books include What is Populism? and Fear and Freedom: For Another Liberalism, which won the Bavarian Book Prize in 2019.
